Today I started form painting. I block-in the general shape of structures. I look for large forms and try to understand how smaller structures are stacked upon the larger forms. My initial block-in with colour isn't final. After about an hour I stitched the structures together tweaking hue, value and general weave of form with clean brushes. I tidy up the contour and try to look for the foreshortening of reflected light as it is placed upon structures moving away from my line of sight. Although I've covered a lot in the pencil sketch and preparatory painting there's always something new to discover.
Note to self; next time I want to give the illusion of a dark interior cover my checkered floor with something dark!
